A very friendly feel, I felt very secure and was looked after. My mum had misplaced her mobile in the lounge area and teh reception staff were very quick and efficient at finding it and keeping it safe. The breakfast staff were very polite and proffesional.Thefood was excellent. The location was perfect for a quiet relaxed sleep and our top floor room had a great view across the city. Would visit this hotel again.

A very traditional decor with a twist of Buddhism connection. Not neccesarily to my taste but quaint all the same.

The location was wonderful, the room very clean (apart from the windows), the staff very friendly and helpful

No dressing gowns supplied and they should have been as part of the room. Parking very limited.

Nice hotel, located in such a position that you can walk to the center of the city and walk back after your dinner. The furniture is good and the hotel staff is very relaxing. If you need some help they know how to help you in a correct and comforting way.

friendly staff, great views, short walk to city centre. good breakfast

Nail sticking out in chair, bathroom could do with updating. More milk for tea

The Ayrlington is abeautiful converted mansion with excellent veiws over Bath and the football fields. The room was excellent and the breakfast package was well worth it.

We liked the staff, the comfort and the location for what we needed the hotel for.

the room was very comfortable and the staff were very helpful. Good walking distance from town.

Only downside to our stay was that our room faced the main road - therefore getting all the City noise.

Convenient parking for University graduationn event at The Abbey. Rooms attractive and of good size. Abbey room very quiet.

Late start to breakfast unsatisfactory. 7.45 was a rush when we needed to be at the graduation robe-ing and photo ceremony at 8-30am

Small, individual, traditionally furnished and decorated. Convenient for town, good views from our room at the back. I selected something more traditional as I was travelling with my in-laws. Everything went well.

    Bit pricey

The location is ideal for a short walk into Bath. The breakfast is very good value. The gardens are well kept.

There may be up to three flights of stairs to your room as there is no elevator. There is a possibility for free parking on site.

    The location

The room was tiredand in need of up-dating. The filth behind the bath/shower mixer tap was black and about 1mm thick. The bath leaked as the plug was missing a rubber 'o' ring. The beds were the narrowest of single beds (a twin room is all that was available) . The room itself was long and narrow - more like a corridor than a room. As the room had windows on two sides, furniture was arranged ariound them and reduced the already limited space available. Furniture was an odd collection of worn-out unmatched items, so cluttered with 'hotel' stuff (cd player, tea-making bits and pieces etc) that there were no surfaces to put out things on, so we had to dance around them on the floor. The duvets were heavy and flattened with age - mine felt like it was made from shredded cardboard bits - and the pillows were certainly made of concrete or something similar. During our stay there was a fire alarm. The poor Americam guy in the room next to us was blamed for it - he was told it was his "fault for using a foreign hair dryer"(!). Welcome to England... The dining experience was farcical - too many tables and too much chintz. The same American fire raiser from the day before was seated with his back to the buffet on which the cold breakfast stuff was laid. People had to lean over him to get cornflakes. Other guests had to wait awkwardly by the door until a table was laid or cleared for them. The "full English" was only "half an English" - there being half a rasher of bacon, half a rock-hard tomato, half a slice of soggy fried bread, though there were also one sausage, one hash brown (done light yellow) and one egg plus the abomination that is baked beans. Coffee was, as usual in English hotels, poor - thin, weak and flavourless. At £110.00 this was a rip-off. Not a hotel at all, more a mean bed and breakfast clip joint.

Rooms were spacious and pleasant with old English Charm. Good position near the tourist attractions. Wifi worked very well. Breakfast were very good and being able to park your car at the hotel and walk into town was a terrific plus

Bathrooms were outdated and could do with an upgrade.

  • Single
    7.8

Rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious with comfortable furniture. Bathrooms too are generous and well fitted out. The location is excellent, a short and very agreeable walk from the middle of Bath. Rooms overlook either a gorgeous garden or have early morning sun if on the street side.

Towels are not changed daily, which is no big deal, however used towels were folded and replaced on racks where during wet weather such as during our stay they cannot dry overnight. Heated towel racks are needed - or change the towels daily. Weekend breakfast was poorly cooked; we later saw the weekend "cook" doing handy-man duties, which may have been his long suit, methinks. Also - why cannot guests enter the beautiful rear gardens?
